Dieffenbacher built the first Particleboard and Veneer presses in 1954 and has since produced and commissioned over 1000 presses, along the way adding the MDF manufacturing capability to its plants. Today the company has about 1000 employees across the world, with a large strength at Eppingen in Germany where it is headquartered with its principal R&D and manufacturing facility.

In March 2007, it set up a wholly-owned subsidiary at Bangalore in India to address the markets in India and neighboring countries and to be close to its customers in this part of the world. The Indian Company, Dieffenbacher India Private Limited, headed by an IIT alumnus, is mainly focused on plants for the Wood-based Panel Industry for manufacturing particleboard (PB), medium density fibreboards (MDF), high density fibre boards (HDF), oriented strand boards (OSB), and laminated veneer lumber (LVL) and Doorskins. It has already achieved success in the Indian market, with orders worth about two hundred crores of Rupees on hand. It is in the process of adding engineers and support staff to take care of installation, erection, commissioning and service support for the customers. Of course to address such needs, the specialists from Germany & other parts of the world will also be available to ensure highest customer satisfaction. All such engineers employed in India will be trained in Germany/ plants in other locations to equip them with necessary technical expertise and high customer-orientation to continue to keep up the high standards of customer relationship that Dieffenbacher has established across the world.
